Gary Simmons - Los Angeles Kings 1974-75
Attributed to Kings goaltender Gary Simmons. Peter Miller (then the Kings equipment manager) would strip down jerseys each year and renumber whatever was needed for a complete set for training camp. The Kings went to mesh in 1975-76. Simmons joined the club in the beginning of the 1976-77 season.
The number change and the Kings history in this time would indicate that it was either done up for Gary in the 1976 training camp/pre season as a recycled jersey, or someone else entirely wore this at some other point. It was worn by a #4 player at one point as well in the early 70’s. A very nice example of the era and how they handled their uniforms.
Characteristics include a crest which is slightly different from earlier years, (a small variation but to a seasoned collector noticeable). A unique garter style fight strap which is unlike all others that have made their way into the hobby. Number change from #4 to #31 is apparent. Nice sewn repair below back number #1. Stick and paint marks throughout.
