Brett Hull St. Louis
Blues 1989-90
Worn March 30th 1990 vs Minnesota North Stars when Brett scored Goals #71 & #72
Photo-matched to the helmet-less action shot below vs the Boston Bruins featuring Goaltender Reggie Lemelin. The Blues hosted the Boston Bruins twice during the 1989-90 campaign. The first being in November 28th with Andy Moog playing in net for the Bruins and then again on March 27th with Lemelin minding the Boston crease. The photo shows Brett without an Alternate Captain patch during the March 27th home game. During the 1989-90 season, Rick Meagher served as full time Captain with Mike Lalor and Adam Oates serving as the Alternate Captains. With Lalor missing the last two games of the regular season and Meagher missing the last game, it opened the door for a hastily done Alternate Captain stitching job on Brett’s home sweater for one or both of the final two tilts vs Pittsburgh and Minnesota. The final game vs Minnesota is when Brett would notch Goal’s number 71 and 72 of the season. This would also make sense as to why Brett would hold on to this jersey until auctioning it off in 2019 alongside his 1990-91 home jersey when he scored 86 goals.
